Bou Meng, a famous survivor of the Khmer Rouge prison, died at eighty-five years old.
He was one of the few prisoners to have survived Tuol Sleng prison.
During the brutal regime of the Khmer Rouge, thousands of people died there.
Bou Meng survived because he knew how to paint very well.
The soldiers forced him to paint portraits of the leader Pol Pot.
Thanks to his artistic talent, he avoided death for several years.
After the war, he became an important witness to the history of Cambodia.
He spent a lot of time telling his story to visitors of the prison.
His wife unfortunately died in this same prison during the regime.
The world will remember him as a symbol of courage and memory.
